We are called together as one body by Almighty God to be a Christ-centered, gospel proclaiming, multigenerational church for the sake of God’s glory in downtown Baton Rouge.

The vision for First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge is the “picture” of how we desire to see the mission of our church take shape. The great news is that the God of the universe who spoke all things into creation and holds all things together by the power of his will (Colossians 1:15-20) will be working in us and through us to see His Vision for his church become a reality.

We have been brought together as one body by Almighty God to be a Christ-centered, gospel-proclaiming, multigenerational church for the sake of God’s glory in downtown Baton Rouge.

Biblical Evangelism |  We will pursue a relevant evangelistic strategy which engages every age group of our church, centered on proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and helping both the lost and found to know the love and grace of God.

Multi-Generational Discipleship |  We must establish a wide-ranging and complete multi-generational discipleship strategy, rooted in the Word of God, where mature believers in the faith are teaching and training younger believers to honor and glorify Christ. (Titus 2 model)

Creative Worship Ministry |  God is leading us in the development of a comprehensive worship and musical arts ministry that is first and foremost a humble and selfless extension of our church’s desire for God’s beauty and creativity to be proclaimed for His own glory and renown in our city.

Sacrificial Giving |  This vision will lead us to generate consistent Christian community as seen in the early church of Acts 2, defined by a love for God’s Word and sacrificial giving of resources for the sake of our church and for the advancement of the gospel.

We see FBCBR becoming a church FOR our city, not just in our city. We see our faith family as community of believers placed here by God to graciously serve others for the good of those in the city of Baton Rouge.

Downtown Outreach |  We must continue to develop a consistent and effective inner city/downtown outreach that meets the physical, spiritual, and relational needs of all downtown Baton Rouge residents.

Cultural Engagement |  To reach our city, we must create an entirely new music and arts outreach ministry with the dual goal of excellence in musical development in children and youth with consistent and competent gospel teaching. God created music. So all music should be for the glory of God.

City-Wide Gospel Saturation |  For the sake of our city, we must dedicate resources and time in working together with other gospel-focused churches throughout Baton Rouge to see the lost saved and for the revelation of God’s kingdom in our great city.

In cooperation with other churches in the downtown area, First Baptist provides financial and volunteer support for this ministry that provides emergency assistance to people traveling through our area and to the homeless.

We see FBC BR deeply invested on every continent on earth through church planting, gospel proclamation among unreached people groups, bible translation projects, and mercy ministries to the world’s most desperate people.

Increased CP Giving |  For the sake of the Gospel proclaimed to all people, we will increase our giving of resources from our church family toward missions efforts through the Cooperative Program.

Global Partnerships |  Our church will establish a partnership with an international church or people group for the sake of the gospel on every continent in the world. (N. America, S. America, Europe, Asia, Australia/Pacific Islands, and Africa)

Translate the Word |  For the sake of taking the gospel to all nations, we will commission the translation of God’s Word into the language of an unreached people group.

Go Make Disciples |  We must GO to the nations. FBC will send 2-3 mission teams overseas annually for the specific purpose of encouraging our brothers and sisters in Christ as well as helping them through intense discipleship ministry, prayer, and resource distribution.
