Troy Mercer
Associate Pastor of
Evangelism and Missions

Troy is a hairdresser turned minister. Born in Baton Rouge and raised in Slaughter (20 miles north), Troy has a deep love for the people of the area.

After following God into the ministry Troy has served as youth minister in Dallas, Texas, and pastor in Wilson, and Amite, Louisiana and Summit, Mississippi. He arrived at FBC via Summit to start a new church that ministers to post-modern thinkers. Troy has a real love for free-thinkers and creative people.

One of Troy's favorite things to do is strike up conversations with strangers and make new friends. His greatest desire is to start a new church that with change Baton Rouge, starting downtown, person by person, into a city that follows Jesus and honors Him with creativity, service, and passion.

A few interesting facts:

Troy and his wife, Maria, have been married 13 years and have 3 children: Lucy, Emma, and Sam.

Troy's favorite Bible passage is Colossians 4:5,6.
"Live wisely among those who are not Christians, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and effective so that you will have the
right answer for everyone."


Troy's favorite things to do are hanging out at 'The Buzz Cafe', spending time with his family, reading, cooking, watching anything LSU, and woodworking.

Troy's favorite movie is 'Lone Star State of Mind' and favorite T.V. series is 'C.S.I.'

Troy loves jazz, classic country and classic rock.
